Accountant

Our client is an established and well-regarded organization with a collaborative, people-focused culture and a strong commitment to excellence. They are seeking a proactive Accountant to join their team on a one-year full-time contract with strong potential for extension. This organization has recently enhanced and standardized its accounting processes, including implementing new bank accounts and automated payables and EFT systems. This has created an opportunity for an Accountant to review, reconcile and ensure key accounts are accurate and up to date. The ideal candidate is determined, organized, and proactive, with a strong attention to detail and a willingness to roll up their sleeves and get the job done. Reporting to the Controller, responsibilities include:

• Complete YTD reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and post correcting entries across cash, clearing, Visa, HST, and deferred revenue accounts
• Reconcile and document AR/AP/GL and payroll clearing accounts, ensuring transactions are accurate and properly supported
• Reconcile revenue to contracts and ensure equity balances are accurately calculated and documented
• Review transactions across systems, identify discrepancies, and make appropriate corrections to maintain accurate financial records
• Maintain organized and consistent reconciliation processes and supporting documentation

Qualifications:

The main qualifications for this role include:

• Post-secondary education in finance and/or accounting
• Completed CPA designation or in progress considered an asset
• Minimum 4 years of progressive, full-cycle accounting experience, ideally within a small to mid-sized business environment
• Good organizational and problem-solving skills
