Reporting to the Manager, Financial Reporting, the Accounting Analyst plays a key role in the production of accurate, high-quality financial information. Through participation in accounting operations, account reconciliations, and the preparation of financial statements, this individual contributes directly to the organization's performance. This opportunity is ideal for a detail-oriented, analytical professional who is motivated to develop their expertise within a collaborative team in the insurance industry.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, the incumbent should possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, or a post-secondary diploma combined with a few years of relevant experience;
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, including journal entries, chart of accounts, general ledger, and financial statements;
  • Good understanding of the accounting cycle and accounting information systems;
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with a disciplined approach to applying procedures and internal controls;
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel for the preparation, analysis, and validation of financial data;
  • Bilingualism required (French and English, both written and spoken);
  • Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage priorities effectively while exercising sound judgment in task execution;
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with the ability to clearly communicate issues and solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform monthly and quarterly accounting activities, including general ledger entries, account reconciliations, and investment accounting, while ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Contribute to the preparation of corporate, regulatory, and segregated fund financial statements by participating in the collection, validation, and analysis of financial data.
  • Participate in the preparation of annual audit files and collaborate with external auditors as required.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, system implementation or enhancement projects, and regulatory changes impacting the industry.
