AbouttheRole

TheAccountingManagerisresponsibleforthefullaccountingcyclefortwoseparatelyincorporatedmanufacturingcompanies.Theroleoverseesfinancialreporting,taxcomplianceanddaytodayaccountingoperationsforbothentities,supervisesaccountingandadministrativestaffacrossbothbusinesses,andreportsdirectlytoaPrincipalattheparentcompany.Oneentity’saccountingiscurrentlyperformedbyanexternalaccountingfirm.Transitioningthisworkinhouseisadefinedobjectiveoftherolewithinthefirstyear.Job-levelcostingandmarginanalysisformpartoftherole’sscope,andareexpectedtodevelopovertimeratherthanimmediately.

Responsibilities

  • FinancialReportingandClose
  • Managemonth-end,quarter-endandyear-endcloseprocessesforeachentity,includingreconciliations,accrualsandjournalentries
  • Preparemonthly,quarterlyandannualfinancialstatementsforeachentity
  • Preparefinancialreportingandanalysisfortheparentcompanycoveringbothentities
  • Maintainsupportingdocumentationandworkingpapersforyear-end
  • AccountingOperations
  • Maintainseparategeneralledgersforeachentity
  • Overseeaccountspayableandaccountsreceivableforbothbusinesses
  • Providepayrollsupportandoversightforbothentities
  • Reviewandapprovejournalentries,bankreconciliationsandaccountreconciliations
  • TaxandRegulatoryCompliance
  • PrepareandfileHSTreturnsindependentlyforeachentity
  • Managepayrollremittancesandsourcedeductions
  • PrepareandfileT4andT4Areturns
  • ActastheprimarypointofcontactforCRAcorrespondenceandreviews
  • CashFlowandBudgeting
  • Prepareandmaintaincashflowforecastsseparatelyforeachentity
  • Supporttheannualbudgetprocessforeachbusiness
  • Providevarianceanalysisagainstbudgetandforecast
  • CostAccountingandInventory
  • Trackinventoryandcostofgoodssoldseparatelyforeachentity’smanufacturingoperation
  • Developjob-levelcostingandmarginreportingtosupportpricingandoperationaldecisions
  • SystemsandProcessTransition
  • Transitiononeentity’saccountingfromanexternalaccountingfirmtoin-houseoperation
  • Maintainandimproveaccountingsystems,policiesandinternalcontrolsappropriatetoeachentity
  • Documentaccountingproceduresandcloseprocessesforbothbusinesses
  • TeamLeadership
  • Supervise,mentoranddevelopaccountingandadministrativestaffacrossbothentities
  • Coordinatewithdepartmentmanagerswhereaccountingstaffaresharedacrossfunctions

Qualifications

  • Required
  • Minimumfiveyearsofprogressiveaccountingexperience
  • Demonstratedownershipofafullaccountingcycle,includingindependentresponsibilityforclose
  • Experiencetransitioningorimplementingaccountingsystemsandprocesses
  • WorkingknowledgeofCanadiantaxcompliance,includingHST,payrollremittances,T4andT4AfilingsandCRArequirements
  • ExperiencewithSageIntacct
  • AdvancedExcel
  • Supervisoryexperience,includingworkingwithstaffsharedacrossdepartments
  • Strongattentiontodetail,organizationalskills,andtheabilitytoprioritizeacrosstwobusinesses
  • Validdriver'slicenceandaccesstoavehicle
  • Preferred
  • CPAdesignation,oractivelypursuing
  • Experiencemanagingaccountingformultipleseparatelyincorporatedentities
  • Manufacturing,millworkorconstructionindustryexperience
  • Jobcostingandpercentageofcompletionrevenuerecognition
