Assistant Controller | $65-$80/hr | Contract | Remote (Austin, TX local ideally) Our client is seeking an Assistant Controller to provide hands-on accounting leadership and support key financial operations during a period of transition. This individual will help maintain accurate reporting, support critical deadlines, and assist with special projects while partnering with internal stakeholders across the organization. This role is ideal for a seasoned accounting professional who can quickly adapt, work independently, and make an immediate impact.   • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience in an Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar leadership-level role
  • Strong background managing month-end close activities and ensuring timely financial reporting
  • Experience working in fast-paced environments with changing priorities and limited oversight
  • Proficiency with ERP systems; experience supporting or working through system implementations or conversions is highly preferred
  • Familiarity with audit support, process improvement initiatives, and cross-functional collaboration
  • Experience with subscription-based or recurring revenue business models is a plus
What You'll Do:
  • Support and oversee key aspects of the month-end close process to ensure deadlines are met
  • Coordinate with accounting team members and business partners to maintain accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Respond to audit requests and assist with accounting-related projects as needed
  • Help manage workflow, prioritize deliverables, and identify areas where additional support is needed
  • Partner with leadership to maintain continuity of operations during team transitions
  • Contribute to process improvements and special initiatives that enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy
