$80,000 - $100,000 base + discretionary bonus

About the Company

Our client is a well-established, privately held investment company with operating businesses across several industries. The head office finance team supports a group of five entities. It is a stable, long-term environment where good work gets noticed.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller/Accounting Manager owns the head office accounting function and the group's consolidated reporting. We want a confident, independent finance professional who doesn't wait to be told what to do. This person spots issues, thinks through the impact on the wider business, and brings recommendations, not just questions. This is a long-term, high-trust role for someone who wants to own a function and make it run well.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the month-end close and prepare head office and entity financial statements, management reporting packages and commentary

  • Consolidate results across the group’s five entities

  • Supervise, review and support an experienced Senior Accountant

  • Run the annual budget cycle: build budgets for assigned entities and consolidate the group-wide forecast using established templates

  • Track performance against budget and flag variances, risks and opportunities to the CFO

  • Strengthen internal controls and find ways to simplify and automate processes

  • Act as the main contact for year-end external accountants

  • Oversee cash, bank activity and debt reporting

  • Support financial analysis on growth initiatives and special projects

What You Bring

  • A solid technical accounting foundation with progressive experience in month-end, financial statements and reporting

  • Hands‑on consolidation experience (required)

  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff

  • A track record of working independently: you take ownership, solve problems and need minimal oversight

  • Strong Excel skills; Sage 300 or a similar ERP is an asset

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills

  • A CPA designation is preferred, but strong candidates with equivalent experience will be considered

What's Offered

  • $80,000 - $100,000 base salary, plus a discretionary performance bonus

  • Medical and dental benefits

  • Professional dues paid, plus a $2,000 professional development allowance and education support

  • Hybrid work after an initial in-office training period

  • Employee discount program and paid parking
