Accounting Supervisor

Location: London, Ontario

Salary: $85,000 to $95,000 annually

Employment: Full-Time | Permanent | On-Site

Industry: Industrial Manufacturing | Engineered Products

The Opportunity

An established Canadian industrial manufacturing company experiencing significant growth is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor to oversee daily accounting operations and lead a small accounting team at its London, Ontario facility.

This is a hands-on supervisory role for someone who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day accounting activities while providing leadership and direction to others.

Working closely with management, you will oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general accounting functions and support month-end reporting activities. You'll also supervise two accounting team members, ensuring accuracy, accountability and efficiency across the department.

We are looking for a working supervisor, not someone who simply delegates. Someone who understands the numbers, enjoys the details and is willing to roll up their sleeves to get the work done.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and actively participate in accounts payable, accounts receivable and general accounting activities.
  • Manage vendor invoicing, customer billing, payment processing, collections and account reconciliations.
  • Monitor outstanding receivables and payables, resolve discrepancies and support effective cash flow management.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure transactions are processed in a timely manner.
  • Support general ledger activities, journal entries and month-end closing processes.

Financial Reporting & Controls

  • Assist with month-end and year-end accounting activities, including reconciliations and preparation of financial reports.
  • Review transactions and account balances to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain accounting controls and ensure established financial procedures are followed.
  • Identify discrepancies, investigate variances and resolve issues proactively.
  • Support management with financial reporting, analysis and other accounting requirements.

Team Supervision & Process Improvement

  • Supervise, mentor and support two accounting team members, providing direction and managing daily priorities.
  • Remain actively involved in accounting functions, stepping in to assist with AP, AR, reconciliations and reporting when needed.
  • Establish clear expectations, ensure deadlines are met and promote accountability.
  • Review existing accounting procedures and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy and workflow.
  • Collaborate with operations and management to resolve accounting issues and support business needs.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in accounting, including strong hands‑on accounts payable, accounts receivable and general ledger experience.
  • Previous experience as an Accounting Supervisor, Senior Accountant, Accounting Team Lead, Assistant Controller or similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise or mentor accounting staff while remaining actively involved in daily accounting responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of full‑cycle accounting, account reconciliations, journal entries and month‑end closing procedures.
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial operations or a similarly fast‑paced business environment preferred.
  • Proficiency with accounting software, ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative and maintain accuracy in a deadline‑driven environment.
  • Post‑secondary education in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline preferred.
  • CPA designation is an asset but not required. Practical accounting experience and the ability to lead a hands‑on team are the priorities.

Who We Are Looking For

  • You are an experienced accounting professional who knows the details matter.
  • You are comfortable managing AP and AR, reviewing reconciliations, supporting month‑end activities and ensuring financial information is accurate.
  • You also enjoy helping others succeed and understand how to balance supervising a team with getting the work done yourself.
  • You don't need a large department or layers of management to be effective. You are organized, dependable and comfortable taking ownership of daily accounting operations.
  • You are someone who can lead a team of two, manage the day‑to‑day accounting demands and help improve how the department operates.

What This Opportunity Offers

  • Competitive salary of $85,000 to $95,000, based on experience.
  • Opportunity to join an established Canadian industrial business experiencing significant growth.
  • Direct collaboration with management and operational leadership.
  • Responsibility for supervising and supporting a small accounting team. (2 people)
  • A hands‑on role with the opportunity to improve accounting processes and efficiencies.
  • Long‑term career opportunity within a growing organization.
