Accounts Receivable Specialist (Remote)

Job Description

Construction AR at volume requires someone who knows the billing cycle before the invoice goes out, not just after payment is overdue.

A pipeline contractor is hiring an AR Specialist to support a growing portfolio of approximately 50 active California construction projects. This is a newly created role the team's project load has grown and the work needs a dedicated seat.

You'll own the billing cycle from progress billing through collections, work directly with project managers to keep documentation clean, and operate remotely with occasional in-person team events in Corona typically no more than four times a year.

What you'll own

• Prepare and process progress billings, AIA billing, and retention billing across an active project portfolio
• Manage lien releases and preliminary notices in compliance with California construction lien law
• Apply customer payments
• Follow up with customers on outstanding balances and past-due accounts
• Coordinate with project managers to resolve billing gaps, documentation issues, and change orders
• Monitor the AR inbox and respond to inquiries

What you bring

• 12 years of AR, billing, or accounting experience construction or project-based environment a strong plus
• Familiarity with progress billing, AIA billing, and lien releases
• Proficiency in Excel; pivot tables and lookups a plus
• Strong follow-through on collections comfortable making calls and tracking responses
