Overview

In this Senior Software Architect role, you will blend hands-on delivery with architectural ownership to shape the OpenGaming platform. You’ll defend design decisions, align across multiple portfolios, and ensure the system scales and operates reliably at global scale. You contribute to governance artifacts and ADRs, influencing platform evolution. This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership and delivery, offering impact across architecture, security, and cross-team collaboration. You’ll work with global teams to drive scalable, secure, and high-quality software.

Responsibilities
  • Own Architectural Decision Records (ADRs) for significant design choices
  • Participate in Architecture Review Board (ARB) to assess solutions
  • Define and enforce architecture patterns, integration contracts, and NFRs
  • Contribute to Tech Atlas, Asset Registry, and governance artefacts
  • Lead threat modelling and translate outcomes into security requirements
  • Produce high-quality solution designs (C4, diagrams) for implementation
  • Design and evolve RESTful and event-driven APIs with OpenAPI
  • Architect third-party integrations (payments, identity, regulatory reporting)
  • Provide governance over CI/CD pipelines and deployment strategies (GitHub Actions, Kustomize, ArgoCD)
  • Hands-on prototyping to de-risk architectural decisions
  • Define and champion non-functional standards (performance, resilience, observability, security)
  • Lead or contribute to performance/load testing design and SLAs context
  • Establish coding/integration standards for Java/Spring services
  • Drive Security Champions program and DevSecOps tooling integration
  • Mentor Associate/mid-level architects and engineers
  • Align iGaming with wider engineering teams on API strategy, data platforms, observability
  • Participate in hiring and technical assessments
Key requirements
  • 7+ years in software engineering
  • At least 3 years in an explicit architecture role
  • Proven track record of owning architectural decisions end-to-end
  • Strong Java/Spring Boot background for cloud-native microservices
  • Experience with event-driven systems (Kafka or similar)
  • Hands-on exposure to API gateway technologies and federated API management
  • Experience in regulated/compliance-driven environments (gaming, fintech, payments)
  • Experience with governance processes (ARB, design authority)
  • Ability to produce architecture artefacts (C4, ADRs, threat models, NFR matrices)
