AI Platform Engineer

Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join one of our large retail clients in Canada. This team is building an internal agentic engineering platform designed to improve how software moves through the development lifecycle, from requirements and design through implementation, testing, review and verification.

This role sits at the intersection of AI engineering, platform engineering and developer productivity. The ideal candidate is a strong software/platform engineer who has hands‑on experience building AI agents and taking them into production.

Responsibilities

• Build and productionize AI agents and agentic workflows
• Identify opportunities to simplify and automate engineering processes using agentic solutions
• Build integrations utilizing MCP, tool calling and agent orchestration
• Develop evals and guardrails to measure agent performance and ensure reliable outputs
• Address production considerations including latency, reliability and scalability
• Build and improve internal developer tooling and platform capabilities
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation and templates
• Build solutions that improve engineering productivity across the SDLC
• Work independently to solve ambiguous technical problems and determine the best tools and technologies for each solution

Skills and Requirements

• Senior‑level software engineering experience
• Hands‑on experience building AI agents from the ground up and deploying them into production
• Experience with MCP, evals, guardrails and agentic workflows
• Strong platform or systems engineering background
• Experience building and productionizing scalable systems
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automation and developer tooling
• Strong programming skills in Python and/or Java
• Strong understanding of the end‑to‑end SDLC
• Experience building solutions at scale
• Self‑motivated problem solver with a strong product mindset
• Ability to identify inefficiencies within development processes and build solutions that simplify them
• Experience building internal developer platforms
• Context engineering experience
• Knowledge graphs or code intelligence experience
• Cloud infrastructure and infrastructure automation experience
• Experience with agentic development tools such as Cursor or Claude Code
