AI Research Engineer

In this role you help advance AI methods for chemistry and materials science within a cross-functional team. You will lead scientific direction, drive foundational research, and collaborate with academic and industry partners to translate advances into impactful applications. You’ll contribute to reproducible research and open-source code, while shaping the broader research community through publications. This role offers the chance to tackle long-term goals with clear milestones in a mission-driven, interdisciplinary environment.

• Provide technical leadership for AI directions in science
• Advance state-of-the-art AI methods for chemistry and materials science
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to realize impact
• Define long-term goals with intermediate milestones
• Publish to influence research communities
• Open-source high-quality code and ensure reproducible research

• PhD in AI, computer science, data science, science/engineering or related field
• First-authored or last-authored publications at peer-reviewed venues
• 4+ years in industry, postdoc, faculty, or government research roles
• Research background in machine learning, AI, computational statistics, applied mathematics, or AI for science
• Experience developing and debugging in Python or equivalent language
