AI Research Intern Large Language Models

Explore continual large language model improvement at Huawei Canada’s Ottawa lab through reinforcement learning, interaction, and environment feedback.

As an Intern with the Advanced Wireless Technology Wireless Lab, you will investigate how LLMs move beyond static fine-tuning toward agentic self-improvement. The work combines machine learning, deep learning, language model methods, and structured reasoning or decision systems. Researchers will support proof-of-concept development and scientific contributions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enable LLMs to learn through experience and interaction
• Use environment feedback for continual agentic improvement
• Integrate generative AI into structured reasoning systems
• Collaborate with researchers on implementation and prototyping
• Contribute findings to scientific papers

Requirements:

• Master's or PhD studies in Computer Science
• Machine learning and deep learning background
• Language model fine-tuning experience
• Familiarity with LLMs or generative AI methods
• Creative thinking, communication, and attention to detail
