Overview

As an Analytics Engineer at Zego, you will shape data models and trusted analytics in an AI-first environment. You’ll work with dbt, Snowflake, and Looker to translate business questions into robust data solutions, while contributing to tests, data contracts, and observability. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders to deliver trustworthy insights that drive faster, more confident decisions. This role offers the opportunity to grow technically and take on ownership as AI-assisted data workflows mature. You’ll be part of a mission-driven team redefining insurance data through scalable, reliable data platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Design and build robust data models and exposures in dbt, Snowflake, and Looker with AI-assisted development
  • Read, debug, and review SQL (including AI-generated code) to ensure trustworthiness of models
  • Document modelling decisions, trade-offs, and outcomes
  • Wrangle and integrate data from multiple third-party sources (e.g. Amplitude, Segment, Google Ads)
  • Help build and maintain trust infrastructure — tests, data contracts, and observability
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of data platform, tooling, and AI-enabled workflows
  • Support business users to promote data-driven decision making and self-service BI
  • Maintain data quality, reliability, and stability across pipelines
  • Create secure data shares for external partners (e.g. S3, SFTP, Snowflake Data Sharing)
Key requirements
  • 1–3 years' experience as an Analytics Engineer or similar role
  • Strong SQL skills; experience with dbt and/or Looker is a plus
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms (Snowflake, dbt, AWS, GCP, Looker)
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git
  • Some exposure to Python for data tasks (nice to have)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong problem-solving instincts
  • Genuine interest in AI and its impact on data work; willingness to stay ahead of tooling
  • Commercial curiosity and ability to connect data to business outcomes
  • Experience in the insurance sector is a plus
