Android Engineer

In this role you will help elevate Zopa’s Android experience as part of the Mobile Platform team. You will migrate the Android app from React Native to native Kotlin, shaping architecture, best practices, and performance. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional peers to deliver high-quality features that delight users. This is a chance to impact a high-touch banking app at scale while advancing native mobile capabilities and tooling.

• Report to the Engineering Manager for the Mobile Platform team
• Collaborate with native mobile engineers to design, build, and evolve the Android platform
• Lead migration from React Native to native Android using Kotlin with strong architecture foundations
• Partner with the wider mobile engineering community to define best practices and support cross-training into native Android
• Improve performance, robustness, and quality by identifying bottlenecks, reducing technical debt, and resolving defects
• Work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features leveraging native Android capabilities

• Experience building and shipping production Android applications in Kotlin, including Google Play Store publishing
• Strong understanding of Android frameworks, platform APIs, and native development best practices
• Background in modern high-engagement mobile apps with focus on performance and reliability
• Passion for quality with a track record of maintainingable, well-tested code and thoughtful design
