Android Software Engineer

Salary: £43,000 - 83,000 per year

Requirements:

  • Proven working experience in software engineering
  • At least a BSc degree in Computer Science or Engineering, with an MSc preferred
  • Ability to develop for the Android platform, including Android 4.2 and above
  • Hands-on experience designing interactive applications
  • Proven Android applications on Google Play
  • Familiarity with dependency injection using Dagger or equivalent
  • Experience with Gradle build systems, continuous integration, and testing, including instrumentation, automation, and unit testing
  • Avid follower of Android development trends
  • Contributor to open source projects
  • Experience with test-driven development and behaviour-driven development
  • Mastery of software engineering tools
  • Ability to document requirements and designs
  • Familiarity with agile software development methodology and release processes
  • Experience working in international environments
  • Ability to adapt communication for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Team-oriented mindset with a focus on efficiency and collaboration
  • Openness to diversity in an international company
  • Proactive approach with pragmatic problem-solving
  • Passion for new trends and approaches
  • Ongoing contribution to open source projects

Responsibilities:

  • Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code
  • Produce designs and determine operational feasibility
  • Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
  • Develop software verification plans and quality assurance procedures
  • Document and maintain software functionality
  • Tailor and deploy software tools, processes, and metrics
  • Keep our knowledge current by studying state-of-the-art development tools and programming techniques, and by participating in professional networks and reading publications
