As an API Software Engineer at Barclays, you will design, develop and support secure, scalable API solutions powering Barclays' digital platforms. You will work within Agile teams to deliver innovative technology while upholding risk management and engineering excellence. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to align solutions with business goals and secure coding practices. You will shape robust, production-ready services that perform at scale and support observability and resilience. This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on security, quality, and cross-functional impact.
Responsibilities- Design, develop and improve software using engineering methodologies to deliver business, platform and technology capabilities
- Deliver high-quality software with scalable, maintainable and performance-optimized code
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, designers and engineers to define requirements and align with business objectives
- Participate in code reviews and foster a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing
- Stay informed on industry trends and contribute to technology communities to drive technical excellence
- Adhere to secure coding practices to protect data and build secure solutions
- Implement and promote effective unit testing practices to ensure reliable design and code quality
- Java: robust enterprise application development with OOP, patterns and best practices
