About the Role

As a Java Developer , you will contribute to the refactoring and modernization of key applications for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) . Working closely with client stakeholders and a large programme delivery team, you'll help design, develop, enhance, and migrate business-critical systems while ensuring high standards of quality and performance.

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based applications
• Support application refactoring and modernization initiatives
• Collaborate with client teams, architects, and developers across the programme
• Build and migrate application components to modern platforms
• Perform code reviews and contribute to technical assurance activities
• Troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance application performance
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Framework
• Solid knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments
• Hands-on experience with SQL databases
• Experience using GitLab for source control and CI/CD practices
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to work effectively within Agile delivery teams
