Overview

As an Application Engineer, you will support the development, integration, calibration, validation, and deployment of Multimatic’s automotive ECU systems. You’ll collaborate with software, controls, systems, hardware, and customer teams to meet vehicle-level performance targets. The role spans from concept through production launch and field support, with frequent customer interaction. You will help shape product performance and customer outcomes while embracing a collaborative, problem-solving culture and a “yes, we can” mindset.

Responsibilities
  • Support customer integration of electronic control systems (suspension, active aero, power closure).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful vehicle-level integration.
  • Perform vehicle commissioning, calibration, validation, and troubleshooting.
  • Analyze vehicle and system data to identify issues and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop and execute test plans for system verification and validation (vehicle, bench, HIL, SIL, functional testing).
  • Investigate and resolve software, controls, or network integration issues.
  • Assist with customer demonstrations, prototype evaluations, and application development.
  • Generate engineering reports with test results and root-cause analysis.
  • Represent Multimatic professionally during customer interactions and on-site support.
  • Identify opportunities to improve product performance, development processes, tools, and test methods.
  • Support production launch, field investigations, and customer service activities as needed.
Key requirements
  • University degree or equivalent in Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer, Control, Automotive Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of automotive vehicle architectures and ECU-based control systems.
  • Experience with CAN, LIN, CAN FD, and Ethernet networks.
  • Experience with Vector tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, CANape) or equivalents.
  • Experience analyzing vehicle data logs.
  • Knowledge of MATLAB, Simulink, and model-based development.
  • Understanding of embedded software and control algorithm implementation.
  • Experience troubleshooting software, controls, or electrical integration issues.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple activities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel and provide on-site customer support as required.
