The Role

We’re seeking an Application Support Engineer to ensure that the organisation’s technology solutions run smoothly and continue to evolve with the needs of the business.

Reporting to the Head of IT, this is a highly visible role that bridges technical operations, vendor management and business support. You’ll take ownership of applications across their lifecycle, from vendor engagement through to implementation, ongoing support and enhancement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Point of contact for software vendors and coordinate the full product lifecycle.
  • Provide hands‑on application and software support for both in‑house and third‑party systems.
  • Work with stakeholders to define requirements, budgets, and delivery criteria for new and existing solutions.
  • Oversee and enforce change management and governance processes.
  • Support software configuration, testing, release management and documentation.
  • Produce and maintain clear system documentation and training materials.

About You

Experience within an Application Support role within a Financial Services business, ideally supporting front and back‑office applications with a good understanding of operations. A self‑starter who combines technical depth with business acumen. You can communicate complex information clearly, influence stakeholders and make decisions confidently.

  • Strong SQL and database skills.
  • Solid experience supporting multi‑tiered Windows‑based applications.
  • Proven scripting experience (e.g. VB/VBA, PowerShell) for automation or troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with enterprise scheduling systems (e.g. VisualCron).
  • Experience with SFTP connectivity and system integrations.
  • Understanding of change control and release management within a regulated or corporate environment.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to act independently in time‑critical scenarios.

Why Apply

  • Join a tight‑knit, high‑performing IT team supporting enterprise‑grade systems.
  • Excellent training and technical development.
  • Opportunity to work in a fast‑paced, globally connected environment.
