Applications Engineer - OpNET

In this role you will deliver hands-on engineering support for the OpNET programme, designing, building and supporting enterprise application services. You’ll manage deployment, configuration and lifecycle activities across Windows and Linux in secure environments. You work with cross-functional teams to integrate apps with services like AD/LDAP, databases and networks, ensuring secure, validated operations. This role combines delivery, automation and documentation to enable stable services in a regulated setting, with SC clearance a prerequisite.

• Deploy, configure and support enterprise applications across Windows and/or Linux environments
• Manage installation, configuration, patching, upgrades and decommissioning of applications
• Support integration with enterprise services (identity, databases, networking)
• Configure and maintain app environments across development, test and production
• Troubleshoot and resolve application and integration issues
• Apply secure-by-design principles to deployment and configuration
• Create and maintain technical artefacts (design docs, build guides, runbooks)
• Assist with system integration, testing and validation of services
• Collaborate with Service Management to resolve incidents and service requests
• Contribute to automation and standardisation of deployment processes
• Support operational handover and ongoing stability of applications

• Strong experience in application installation, configuration and support in enterprise environments
• Experience with Windows and/or Linux server environments
• Knowledge of integrating applications with enterprise services (e.g., Active Directory, databases, web services)
• Experience supporting application environments across development, test and production
• Understanding of application security and hardening best practices
• Experience troubleshooting complex application and integration issues
• Ability to produce technical documentation (LLDs, build guides, runbooks)
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills
• Experience in complex programmes and large technical teams
• Understanding of ITIL service management principles
