ASIC Design Engineer

In this role you will design and implement complex silicon for AST’s space-based communications systems. You will work with a small Edinburgh Silicon Team to deliver high‑value RTL and micro-architecture while collaborating with architecture, verification, and software groups. From concept to tape‑out, you help build robust SoC designs that enable a global space broadband network. This position blends hands‑on silicon work with cross‑functional impact, within a mission to connect the unconnected.

• Create high‑quality micro‑architecture specifications and RTL code
• Contribute to SoC integration and subsystem development
• Collaborate with architecture, verification, and software teams
• Participate in design reviews and provide technical input
• Ensure alignment with requirements and design best practices

• Deep knowledge of hardware and digital design fundamentals
• Strong SystemVerilog knowledge
• Experience with SoC integration
• Prior experience on complex RTL designs (high‑speed I/O, CPUs, accelerators, or complex network‑on‑chip)
• Ability to write clear, high‑quality micro‑architecture specifications
• Competency in Python scripting or programming
