Assistant Accounting Manager - Inventory Control and General Accounting

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Assistant Accounting Manager - Inventory Control & General Accounting  to oversee inventory reconciliation, account reconciliations, month-end close activities, and financial reporting. This role partners closely with Operations, Warehouse, Purchasing, Customer Service, and Finance teams to ensure inventory accuracy, maintain strong internal controls, and support timely and accurate financial reporting.

The ideal candidate will possess strong accounting and inventory management experience, demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset, and have the ability to streamline and automate processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.



Key Responsibilities

Inventory Control & Operations Support

Maintain the integrity and accuracy of inventory records within the inventory management and ERP systems.
Review and record inventory receipts, transfers, adjustments, write-offs, and other inventory transactions.
Monitor and resolve daily EDI transaction errors and lot control discrepancies.
Investigate inventory variances and partner with warehouse and operations teams to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
Reconcile inventory subledger balances to the general ledger on a timely basis.
Review inventory movement reports and analyze unusual transactions or trends.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal control requirements related to inventory.

General Accounting & Financial Reporting

Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and investigate reconciling items.
Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including journal entries and accruals.
Perform account analysis and variance reporting to support accurate financial results.
Support the preparation of monthly financial statements, management reports, and ad hoc analyses.
Ensure inventory balances and related costs are accurately reflected in the financial records.
Assist in maintaining and improving accounting procedures and internal controls.
Support annual financial audits and provide requested documentation to internal and external auditors.
Participate in special projects, system implementations, and process improvement initiatives.

Process Improvement & Leadership

Identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate accounting and inventory processes.
Develop and maintain process documentation and standard operating procedures.
Collaborate across departments to improve data integrity and operational efficiency.
Support in departmental initiatives and special assignments.



Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in inventory accounting, cost accounting, manufacturing, distribution, or warehousing environments.
Strong understanding of inventory accounting principles, account reconciliations, and month-end close processes.
Experience with ERP and inventory management systems.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis tools.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
Demonstrated ability to analyze processes and implement improvements that drive efficiency and control.
