Vizsla Silver Corp. is a Vancouver-based silver and gold company focused on its flagship Panuco project in Sinaloa, Mexico. The Company is listed on the TSX and NYSE American, reports under IFRS, and is subject to Sarbanes-Oxley internal control requirements. As the Company advances from exploration into the development and construction stage, the finance team is scaling its reporting, control and consolidation capabilities across the Canadian parent and its Mexican subsidiaries.

Position Summary

The Assistant Controller supports the Corporate Controller in all aspects of external and internal financial reporting, consolidation, and SOX compliance during the Company’s transition to development stage. The role combines hands-on technical accounting under IFRS with oversight of the Mexican accounting function, and is well suited to a designated accountant with public company and mining experience who wants exposure to a growth-stage issuer.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the monthly closing of the general ledger for the parent company and holding companies;
  • Lead the efforts to develop new consolidation and local reporting packages;
  • Prepare consolidation for the parent company and subsidiaries
  • Prepare working papers to support the accuracy of the FS, and MD&A;
  • Prepare technical accounting memos on an ad hoc basis, and liaise with the external auditors and technical advisors;
  • Assist with the external audit, ensuring consistent communication and timely delivery of working papers to the auditors
  • Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting, preparing SOX working papers
  • Assist with the implementation of best practices in finance reporting
  • Manage ad hoc projects as required.

Qualifications and Experience

  • CPA designation (or equivalent) with three or more years of post-designation experience;
  • Big 4 or mid-tier public practice training, public company reporting experience under IFRS, mining industry experience and/or Spanish speaker, BC365, Workiva experience considered a strong asset;
  • Working in an environment of Sarbanes-Oxley;
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with an ERP system; and

Attributes and Working Conditions

  • Hands-on, detail-oriented and comfortable in a lean team where the role spans preparation and review;
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to document technical accounting positions clearly;
  • Based in the Vancouver head office, with occasional travel to Mexico site and corporate offices; and
  • Able to meet quarterly and annual reporting deadlines in a public company environment.
