Assistant Controller

A growing services organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to lead its General Ledger and accounting operations function. This is a high-impact leadership role reporting to the SVP of Finance, overseeing a team of four and owning the monthly close, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting processes. Compensation: $155,000-$185,000 + benefits

Schedule: Hybrid (3 days in office)

Location: Queens, NY

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals
• Oversee month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
• Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting activities
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal controls
• Partner with Finance leadership, auditors, Tax, Treasury, and other stakeholders
• Drive process improvements and close optimization initiatives
• Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and support business decision-making
• Support audits and complex accounting matters

Qualifications:

• 8-15+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA preferred (or actively pursuing)
• Blend of public accounting and private industry experience strongly preferred
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and audit processes
• Proven people management and leadership experience
• NetSuite experience preferred
• Experience working with external auditors and complex accounting transactions
