Assistant Controller

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Controller to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting, audit preparation, and process improvement initiatives.

Work Location: On-site

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
• Prepare account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial analyses.
• Support the preparation of financial statements and management reports.
• Coordinate audit requirements and maintain supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with accounting policies, tax regulations, and internal controls.
• Participate in annual budgeting and forecasting process.
• Support cash flow monitoring and working capital management.
• Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.

• Create, analyze and manage various reports in Excel.
• Execute any other administrative and accounting related task to support the Executive Management Accounting Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

• CPA designation (completed or nearing completion).
• 3 to 5 years of progressive accounting or finance experience.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP (i.e., ASPE) and financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills and experience with ERP systems.
• Highly organised and exceptionally detail oriented
• Excellent communication skills with strong follow-through and reliability.
• Skilled at managing multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
• Analytical and able to identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement.
• Proactive, resourceful, and able to work independently.
• Committed to accuracy, documentation, and continuous improvement.
• Proficient in the use of accounting systems.
• Working knowledge of Transportation Management Systems is a plus.
