Assistant Professor AI Biomedical Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science seeks a junior faculty member for a Canada Impact+ Emerging Leader position. The tenure-track appointment begins July 1, 2027, in Mechanical Engineering and/or Electrical and Computer Engineering. Candidates should connect next-generation devices or imaging methods with artificial intelligence, while contributing to Biomedical Engineering education and scholarly collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop AI-integrated biomedical sensors, diagnostics, or medical imaging
• Design and deliver undergraduate and graduate Biomedical Engineering curricula
• Interact with relevant scholarly communities across UVic
• Contribute to inclusive student mentoring and supervision

Requirements:

• Ph.D. in biomedical engineering or relevant engineering discipline
• Professional engineering registration or eligibility in British Columbia
• Expertise in next-generation devices or imaging methods
• Experience applying data science, machine learning, or artificial intelligence
• Excellent communication and engineering education commitment
