Overview

In this role you support Visa's real-time authorization operations, ensuring continuous availability of VIP/VisaNet and OVN platforms across multiple data centers. You will be the first point of contact for internal teams, handling incident tracking, escalation and collaboration with L2/L3 groups to rapidly resolve issues. You contribute to high-quality documentation and operational procedures, helping maintain service levels in a 24x7 environment. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role with a clear impact on client experience and brand reliability.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor IBM TPF/OVN-based authorization systems in a multi-datacenter setup and provide first-level response
  • Perform precise console inputs to aid issue resolution under guidance from support teams
  • Track, update and close incidents, changes, and problem tickets to preserve service levels
  • Proactively monitor system alerts and escalate in line with procedures
  • Coordinate with L2/L3 support and development teams to resolve incidents and problems
  • Document support procedures and ensure thorough, accurate turnover and knowledge transfer
  • Lead or supervise System Specialist activities when on shift, and support team meetings (in-person or via MS Teams)
  • Develop, edit and distribute timely internal communications per established processes
  • Maintain technical skills through ongoing training and participate in fast-paced multi-tasking environments
  • Adhere to essential staff requirements for 24x7 operations, including weather/disaster readiness and on-site presence when required
Key requirements
  • 3+ years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree
  • Hands-on experience supporting critical applications on IBM TPF or equivalent Real-Time OS
  • Experience with Linux-based distributed systems, Kubernetes, and Kafka
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix/MVS/VM, ServiceNow, and monitoring tools; familiarity with CoPilot, ChatGPT, Opera, DB2, ClickHouse/Splunk or Cassandra is a plus
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and incident management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational ability, and prioritization in dynamic workloads
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal abilities
  • Willingness to learn Visa proprietary tools and industry-standard monitoring/response tools for VIP issues
  • ITIL Foundation certificate (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Willingness to work a two-week rotating schedule (12-hour shifts) with on-site requirements and potential overtime
