Overview
In this leadership role, you guide the end-to-end design and delivery of data centre projects within Arup’s global team. You will mentor engineers, oversee multi-disciplinary design packages, and nurture client relationships as you progress projects toward commissioning. You’ll work within an engineered-architecture model to lead coordination across disciplines and deliver high-quality, resilient facilities. This role offers a pathway toward Associate Director, leveraging global collaboration and a culture that values innovation and impact.

Responsibilities
- Lead and coordinate design from brief to installation and commissioning support
- Provide technical guidance and design management for multi-disciplinary data centre projects
- Mentor and develop junior engineers
- Develop and apply management skills in design package delivery
- Travel to project locations as required
- Plan, manage, and report project progress
- Oversee financial performance with the Project Director
- Provide discipline leadership and ensure high-quality design documents
- Compile project reports and documentation
- Represent the design/disciplines in client/contractor discussions on cooling, PUE/WUE, resilience, and testing and commissioning
Key requirements
- Experience leading teams of engineers on data centre projects through all design and construction stages
- Experience presenting to clients and contractors on design topics
- Ability to mentor and develop junior/intermediate engineers
- Strong understanding of cooling solutions and data centre performance metrics
- Inquisitive and research-minded
- Relationship building with industry partners and clients
- Mentoring and development of junior staff
- Design of cooling solutions including chilled water systems
- PUE/WUE calculations and efficiency assessments
- Understanding of TIER resilience levels and business continuity
