Overview

In this role you design, build and operate a secure, open data fabric to support Defence and National Security customers. You’ll enable cross-team data integration and governance across batch, streaming, and analyst-driven workflows, including edge and DDIL environments. You will shape reusable patterns, connectors, and automation to deliver reliable, scalable data services. Responsibilities
  • Design/implement the event-driven data fabric architecture for automation, ingestion, storage, processing, metadata, governance and access patterns
  • Support and operationalize workflow automation for repeatable analyst workflows with guardrails and configurable patterns
  • Deliver configurable data integration via curated connectors and standard transformation/routing/enrichment patterns
  • Engineer for DDIL and edge deployments with secure configuration distribution and local processing
  • Build streaming ingestion, batch/stream processing using distributed technologies and Flink/Spark with repeatable deployments
  • Implement metadata, lineage, catalogue capabilities and policy-based security and governance
Key requirements
  • Data/platform engineer with production distributed systems experience
  • Hands-on with open-source data integration and streaming technologies and configurable integration patterns
  • Experience enabling workflow automation for technical users
  • Strong data modelling fundamentals, contracts and schema evolution
  • Experience designing for reliability, scalability, operability (monitoring, alerting, deployment automation, incident handling, performance tuning)
  • Practical security mindset (least privilege, auditability, usable controls)
  • Open-source data integration and streaming technologies
  • Connectors and reusable integration components
  • Workflow automation for technical users
  • Data modelling, contracts, and schema evolution
  • Reliability, monitoring, deployment automation
  • Security controls and governance
