As Associate Director, you lead System Safety & Interoperability for UK & Ireland, shaping a resilient safety capability across major rail projects. You provide senior technical leadership, assurance, and stakeholder engagement to meet regulatory and safety requirements. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure coherent safety verification and compliance across complex programmes. This role offers impact at scale within a global infrastructure firm and a mission to enable safe, efficient rail systems. You will drive strategic capability development and ensure delivery excellence in safety and interoperability.

Responsibilities
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for railway System Safety and Safety Assurance
  • Lead and assure System Safety application across major projects and programmes
  • Provide senior technical leadership for interoperability and railway authorisation
  • Lead Interoperability, Compliance and Authorisation Strategies
  • Provide leadership on RIR, NTSNs, NTRs and ORR authorisation in Great Britain
  • Develop System Safety & Interoperability capability plan aligned with SESA strategy
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering and RAMS leads to ensure coherent safety verification
  • Lead complex System Safety and Interoperability commissions and manage scope, quality, resources and commercial performance
Key requirements
  • Significant railway System Safety/Safety Assurance experience
  • Strong CSM experience
  • Hazard management and safety justification
  • Interoperability/authorisation experience
  • GB and/or Irish/European railway regulatory knowledge
  • Independent assessment engagement
  • Multidisciplinary rail programme experience
