Associate Electrical Director: Data Centres

In this role you will lead electrical design for data centre projects, aligning technical delivery with client needs and sustainability goals. You will steer a team of experts across the UK and collaborate with global colleagues to deliver resilient, low-carbon power solutions. You’ll shape strategies, drive project delivery and ensure quality while maintaining strong client relationships and winning work. The opportunity combines technical leadership with cross-disciplinary coordination in a high-growth data centre market.

Responsibilities
  • Own electrical design across feasibility, concept, scheme, and detailed design through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover
  • Define and validate power architectures including utility intake, MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, busway, earthing, and lighting
  • Lead power systems studies and protection design (load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, arc-flash, harmonic analysis) using ETAP/SKM
  • Integrate monitoring and controls (BMS/EPMS/SCADA), metering strategies, and resilience features aligned to availability objectives
  • Embed decarbonization and energy efficiency (high-efficiency UPS, advanced controls, heat recovery, demand response, on-site renewables, grid-interactive strategies)
  • Assure compliance with IEC/BS/EN, NEC/NFPA and client specs, and AECOM quality procedures
  • Coordinate multi-disciplinary interfaces (mechanical, structural, architectural, fire/life safety, security, ICT) to deliver integrated designs
Key requirements
  • Hyperscale and/or multi-site program experience
  • Strong background in electrical project delivery for Data Centres and Mission Critical Environments
  • Proven experience leading DC project work streams in UK and preferably across EMEA
  • Demonstrated client-facing and work-winning capability
  • Excellent team leadership and development skills
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical design interfacing with electrical systems in data centres
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience managing project financials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
