Overview

In this role you will lead electrical design and power systems delivery for hyperscale data centres, guiding a team of technical experts across the UK and collaborating with global colleagues. You’ll shape power architectures, ensure reliability and sustainability, and drive client engagement and project delivery in a fast-growing sector. You will mentor teams, advance decarbonization efforts, and coordinate multi‑disciplinary interfaces to deliver low‑carbon, efficient outcomes that support AECOM’s mission to build a better world. Responsibilities
  • Own electrical design across feasibility to handover, including procurement support and commissioning
  • Define and validate power architectures (utility intake, MV/LV distribution, UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, busway, lighting)
  • Lead power systems studies and protection design using ETAP/SKM
  • Integrate monitoring and controls (BMS/EPMS/SCADA), metering, and resilience features
  • Embed decarbonization and energy efficiency measures (high‑efficiency UPS, on‑site renewables, grid‑interactive strategies)
  • Assure compliance with IEC/BS/EN, NEC/NFPA and client specs
  • Coordinate multi‑disciplinary interfaces (mechanical, structural, architectural, fire/life safety, security, ICT) to deliver integrated designs
Key requirements
  • Hyperscale and/or multi‑site program experience in fast‑track and design‑build environments
  • Strong background delivering electrical project work for data centres and mission critical environments
  • Proven leadership of DC project work streams in the UK, with preference for EMEA exposure
  • Client facing and work winning experience
  • Strong team leadership and development capability
  • Thorough knowledge of mechanical design and interfacing with clients in data centres
  • Strong commercial acumen and project financial management
  • Effective written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders
