In this role you will lead embedded software for Dyson’s power electronics systems, shaping motor drives, power conversion and battery management in a multidisciplinary lab setting. You will prototype, evaluate and optimize software on microcontrollers, mentor peers, and collaborate with suppliers and external partners to shape roadmaps. You’ll drive research projects, present findings, and help scale concepts into demonstrators and concepts for next‑gen products. This is a hands‑on, impact‑driven role at a global consumer tech innovator with a strong emphasis on practical engineering outcomes.

- Develop software for power electronic systems (motor drives, battery management, chargers, heater controls)
- Create and review resource-efficient embedded software for microcontrollers
- Lead one or more electronics software research projects
- Design, simulate, build and test demonstration rigs and prototype systems
- Mentor and develop team capabilities in software quality and process
- Manage internal embedded software development processes and tools
- Collaborate with suppliers to influence microcontroller roadmaps
- Select and evaluate next-gen microcontrollers to optimize cost and performance
- Plan activities with cross-functional teams and deliver embedded software solutions
- Create technical reports and present concepts, test results and recommendations
- Identify technical risks and define mitigation strategies
- Pursue software optimization opportunities to generate business value
- Degree in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
- Experience in at least one field: motor drives, inverters, SMPS, heater control, chargers, USB PD, battery management or power transfer
- C/C++ programming for embedded systems (essential)
- Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers and microprocessors
- Assembly/machine code desirable
- MCU analogue data acquisition for high-speed signals
- Python scripting; MATLAB or similar for simulation/data analysis
- Experience leading a software research or development project
- Agile experience with Atlassian tools desirable
- Experience in verification/validation planning and structured testing
- Laboratory equipment proficiency for electrical measurements
- Software development in safety standards (IEC 60730 or similar) desirable
- RISC-V experience desirable
- Safe lab work with mains voltage and high-speed machines desirable
- Fluent English; strong communication and teamwork
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams
