Assurance Engineer

As an Assurance Engineer, you ensure technical compliance across a portfolio of high-profile outdoor infrastructure projects. You’ll support CAPEX delivery, review designs, and drive quality and governance from design through handover. Working with project managers, contractors, and specialist teams, you help align technical delivery with business objectives while promoting safety and regulatory compliance. This role offers visibility across major UK assets and a chance to shape engineering standards in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities- Review engineering designs and submissions for compliance with technical, regulatory, and operational standards
- Provide assurance support to Project Managers to align delivery with requirements
- Track assurance activities across multiple projects and drive early resolution of risks and non-conformances
- Support handover with accurate Health & Safety files and documentation
- Collaborate with engineering teams to promote quality, consistency, and best practice
- Maintain visibility of assurance status, issues, and delivery risks with stakeholders
- Perform site inspections, audits, and assurance checks to monitor quality and compliance
- Escalate defects and non-compliances and support corrective actions
- Coordinate contractor documentation, risk assessments, and method statements to ensure safe works
- Communicate assurance requirements effectively to project teams and stakeholders
- Develop and report on Assurance KPIs to identify risks and opportunities
- Support contractor management and assurance processes across works
- Proven experience in engineering assurance, technical review, compliance, or quality oversight in civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical environments
- Strong practical understanding of engineering management, design assurance, and construction delivery processes
- Experience carrying out inspections, audits, or assurance checks during construction, installation, or commissioning
- Ability to assess projects against British Standards and rail, highway, roadside, or airport standards
- Experience working with contractors and suppliers, reviewing documentation and monitoring compliance
- Risk and issue management skills to identify and mitigate technical risks
- Experience supporting large-scale CAPEX projects or multi-site delivery
- Confident communicator with stakeholders across technical and non‑technical audiences
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a live portfolio
