Automation Leader Controls Systems

Lead automation strategy at Maple Leaf Foods’ Heritage facility, guiding PLC, SCADA, MES, robotics, and plant controls support. Strengthen equipment efficiency through structured leadership.

The Automation Leader develops facility automation strategy across start-up and production environments. You will lead the Automation Team, plan resources and budgets, and support control systems. The work spans change control, instrumentation, maintenance programs, vendor relationships, and equipment troubleshooting. You will also develop training and contingency plans while supporting food safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the Automation Team against the facility strategy
• Support PLC, HMI, MES, SCADA, robotics, and building automation
• Manage engineering change control and related documentation
• Develop controls maintenance, training, and contingency programs
• Maintain equipment networks, MES/SCADA systems, and VPN connectivity

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Engineering, or 15 years’ progressive experience
• Experience with change control processes and design reviews
• Experience with SCADA and MES control systems
• Experience implementing robotics and integrating instrumentation
• Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
