AWS Backend Developer

Insight Global is looking for a Backend Developer to join a leading wealth management client supporting the continued buildout of a digital advisor portal. This initiative is a high-priority, enterprise-wide effort focused on delivering new features and enhancing the overall advisor and client experience.

This individual will play a key role in backend development, working closely with engineering, product, and architecture teams to design and deliver scalable services that support onboarding, investment products, and advisor workflows. The environment is highly collaborative and fast-paced, with a strong emphasis on modern cloud-native development using AWS.

This role is a short term (3 month) initial contract with the opportunity for conversion to full time employment and high likelihood of extensions based on performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services using Node.js in a cloud-native environment
• Develop and manage infrastructure using AWS CDK (Cloud Development Kit)
• Contribute to the ongoing enhancement and expansion of a digital advisor portal for wealth management clients
• Partner with cross-functional teams (product, UX, frontend, architecture) to deliver new features end-to-end
• Build scalable APIs and microservices to support client onboarding, account management, and investment workflows
• Ensure high performance, security, and reliability of backend systems
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and CI/CD processes
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues as needed

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of backend development experience
• Strong hands‑on experience with Node.js
• Experience building and deploying infrastructure using AWS CDK
• Deep understanding of AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB/S3, etc.)
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and microservices architecture
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimization

Nice to Have Skills and Experience

• Experience in wealth management or financial services
• Exposure to advisor platforms or digital onboarding flows
• Experience with TypeScript
• Familiarity with authentication/authorization (IAM, OAuth, etc.)
• Experience working in agile environments
