Azure Platform Engineer - Banking £530 per day - Inside IR35 Sheffield - 3 days a week on site 3 months initially

Key Skills & Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience engineering and supporting Azure platforms at scale, including compute, storage, networking, identity, governance, RBAC, managed identities, ARM, and Azure Policy.
  • Expert-level PowerShell automation experience, developing reusable modules, tooling, testing frameworks, and automation used across production environments.
  • Extensive experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, Bicep, or ARM, including CI/CD pipeline integration, code reviews, module design, and state management.
  • Proven background managing Azure VM image build and release processes, including Azure Image Builder, Packer, Shared Image Gallery, patching, hardening, versioning, and deployment automation.
  • Strong knowledge of Azure Networking, including VNets, NSGs, Private Endpoints, DNS, load balancing, routing, traffic management, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience implementing and responding to Azure governance and compliance controls, assessing policy impacts, remediating non-compliance, and ensuring estate-wide adherence to security standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and lead resolution of complex production issues across infrastructure, network, and application layers, acting as an escalation point for technical teams.
  • Desirable experience with Azure Landing Zones, Azure DevOps/GitHub Actions, Entra ID, Azure Policy authoring, enterprise-scale architecture, regulated environments, and Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or AZ-400.
