BookingHub Inc.

Montreal (Administrative Region) · Quebec · Canada

About BookingHub

BookingHub is a modern all-in-one booking and scheduling platform built for appointment-based businesses across eight verticals: medical, fitness, spa and beauty, dining, education, auto, home services, and professional services.

The platform delivers real-time availability, instant booking confirmation, custom intake forms per service, automated reminders, a live cancellation waitlist, integrated two-way client messaging, role-based team access, and payment collection at the point of booking. Businesses can establish a clean public booking page in minutes, manage clients with detailed histories and notes, and access performance insights through a comprehensive dashboard.

BookingHub is built in Montreal and hosted in Canada. The platform is Law 25 compliant and fully encrypted, meeting the data protection standards required by the clinics, studios, and practices it serves. The entire platform operates bilingually in English and French.

The Role

The Back End Developer will design, build, and maintain the server-side applications and APIs that power real-time availability, booking workflows, payment processing, and client management. This role sits at the core of the product, where correctness and reliability are non-negotiable, and where engineering decisions directly shape the end-user experience.

This is a contract position, hybrid, based in Montreal, QC, combining on-site collaboration with work-from-home flexibility.

What You Will Be Doing

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain backend features supporting booking, scheduling, availability, and client management workflows

  • Build and maintain APIs consumed by web and future mobile clients

  • Optimize application performance and scalability, including query performance, concurrency handling, and high-availability considerations

  • Integrate and maintain third-party services, including calendar synchronization, payment processing, messaging, and notification systems

  • Design and evolve database schemas, migrations, and data models with attention to integrity and long-term maintainability

  • Implement and uphold security best practices, encryption standards, and compliance requirements under Law 25

  • Collaborate closely with front-end developers, product, and design to deliver complete, well-specified features

  • Contribute to code review, testing practices, monitoring, and production reliability

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications

  • Strong back-end web development experience, including server-side frameworks, API design, and database architecture

  • Solid software development fundamentals, with proficiency in at least one modern backend programming language

  • Applied object-oriented programming experience, including modular, maintainable, and testable code design

  • Working understanding of front-end development concepts sufficient to collaborate effectively on end-to-end feature delivery

  • Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases, including performance tuning and data modeling for high-availability applications

  • Knowledge of security best practices, encryption, and privacy regulations. Experience with compliance frameworks is an asset

  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and production monitoring tooling

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders in a hybrid environment

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Prior experience with SaaS or booking platforms is an asset

What We Offer & What We Look For

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates in this role typically demonstrate:

  • Rigor around correctness in systems where failure has direct customer impact, particularly in scheduling and payment flows

  • Pragmatic judgment in balancing delivery speed against long- availability applications

  • Comfort operating with meaningful ownership and limited process overhead

  • Clear technical communication, both in code review and in cross-functional discussion

  • Motivation to contribute meaningfully at an early-stage, high-growth company

Working Environment

BookingHub operates with asynchronous collaboration, clear communication standards, and a strong bias toward shipping and iterating. Engineers work with substantial autonomy and direct visibility into how their work affects real businesses using the platform daily.

Technical decisions are made close to the problem rather than through layered approval. Engineers are expected to surface architectural concerns early and participate in shaping how the platform evolves.

Compensation and Terms

  • Contract position, hybrid, based in Montreal, QC

  • Compensation commensurate with experience, discussed during the interview process

  • Flexible scheduling with reasonable overlap for team collaboration

BookingHub is an equal opportunity employer committed to building an inclusive workplace. Applicants of all backgrounds are welcome. Accommodations are available at any stage of the hiring process upon request.
