Back End Engineer (AI Platforms)

As a Back End Engineer in the Group AI Platform at HSBC, you design and build production-grade backend services that enable AI delivery across the bank. You’ll work on agent runtimes, workflow orchestration, and data/storage layers, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to scale responsible AI solutions. • Design and develop backend services for agent runtimes, workflow orchestration, and tool calling
• Implement memory/context management using Redis and support retrieval-augmented generation
• Develop MCP servers/gateways and agent tools integration
• Build event-driven and workflow capabilities with Temporal, Google Cloud Pub/Sub, and BigQuery
• Design persistence/data services with PostgreSQL, Redis, and BigQuery
• Evaluate and integrate frameworks/components from other HSBC teams; apply patterns and standards
• Contribute to backend reference architectures and engineering standards
• Manage and deploy production-grade services ensuring reliability and scale

• Backend software or platform engineering experience with Python and Go
• Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD experience
• Experience designing and operating distributed microservice-based systems
• Strong understanding of APIs, event-driven architecture, workflow orchestration, and cloud-native engineering
