Overview

As a Back End Engineer on the Partner Flow team, you shape how thousands of small businesses access iwoca financing through embedded flows and the Lending API. You will own features end-to-end, collaborating with partners and internal stakeholders to create robust, scalable systems. Your work will focus on improving partner onboarding, conversion through experiments, and delivering impactful solutions for partner-referred customers. This role offers autonomy, cross-functional collaboration, and the chance to advance AI-assisted development in a fast-growing fintech environment.

Responsibilities
  • Own features and projects from scoping and design through to production
  • Collaborate with other engineers to meet team goals and work independently on assigned problems
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, robust systems for partner integrations
  • Deliver new functionality to onboard partners and improve partner/customer funnel
  • Run experiments (RCTs) and optimise conversion with embedded data science insights
  • Document code, processes, and architectures to improve maintainability
  • Collaborate with partners and stakeholders to design effective solutions and use data to guide decisions
  • Contribute to AI-assisted development with a focus on correctness, performance and security
Key requirements
  • Experience designing and building scalable back-end systems, ideally in Python
  • Experience with relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
  • Experience building and maintaining APIs that are easy to use, reliable, and well-documented
  • Experience managing projects end to end from problem understanding to solution delivery
  • Pragmatism in balancing delivery speed with long-term system health
  • Clear, concise written and verbal communication with outcomes focus
  • A genuine team player who supports teammates and the team's success
  • AI fluency and experience using AI coding tools to accelerate delivery
