Back End Engineer - Repeats

In this role you’ll help shape the repeat loan experience at iwoca by re-architecting the flex-loan offer pipeline. You’ll own backend features end-to-end, from design to production, with opportunities to grow into full-stack work. You’ll work closely with product, design, and data teams to improve underwriting, pricing, and post-loan offers for repeat customers. This role combines strong technical scope with a clear impact on small business access to funds. You’ll operate in a collaborative, data-driven fintech environment that values learning and experimentation.

- Re-architect the flex-loan repeat offer pipeline to determine eligibility, pricing, and loan amount
- Own backend features end-to-end from design through to shipping and monitoring
- Maintain and support core services behind repeat lending (lending_decision app, repeats pricing and offer-amount services, customer account pages)
- Monitor production and troubleshoot issues as they arise
- Collaborate with Product, Design, Data Science and Analytics to ensure technically sound and customer-friendly solutions
- Contribute to frontend work in Pandora (React, TypeScript) over time to enable end-to-end ownership
- Commit to clean, well-tested Python and participate in code reviews
- 1+ years of commercial engineering experience
- Clear written and spoken communication
- Comfortable writing clear, testable Python
- Working knowledge of PostgreSQL
- Interest in picking up frontend (React, TypeScript) over time
- Experience with automated tests and code quality practices
- Familiarity with AI tools in daily workflow (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code)
