Overview

As a Back-End Engineer, you will design and operate the backend services powering the Cryptocurrency Trading Platform, focusing on high-availability, low-latency systems. You’ll work with Kotlin and Python to support order management, market data, and real-time APIs (REST and WebSocket) for trading products. You will collaborate with product, frontend, and trading teams to adapt to market conditions and feature needs, contributing to scalable, observable, and maintainable systems. This role offers opportunities to impact the growing crypto trading ecosystem from our London office.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and operate backend services powering trading products
  • Develop services for order management, market data processing, and trade lifecycle in real-time environment
  • Build and maintain REST APIs and WebSocket streams for real-time data
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to adapt platform features
  • Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability with focus on latency and observability
  • Contribute to architecture discussions and knowledge sharing
Key requirements
  • Backend service development experience
  • Kotlin and/or Python proficiency
  • Experience with REST APIs; WebSockets or real-time streaming (NATS/JETSREAM a plus)
  • SQL knowledge and integration with multiple services
  • Understanding of performance, latency, and load handling
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Curiosity for new tech; interest in financial markets or crypto is a plus
  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and AWS is a plus
