Overview
In this role you will lead backend engineering efforts to design and deliver new services and APIs for the 9fin platform, collaborating closely with Product and clients. You will mentor junior developers, drive code quality, and explore rapid proofs of concept to advance data processing and automation. You’ll work across diverse financial data domains, from modelling to ML/AI predictions, to improve availability and speed of decision making. This is a chance to shape the technology that transforms debt markets and scales with the company’s growth.

- Provide technical leadership on projects, defining system design and architecture
- Write code and lead others to deliver new service functionality and APIs
- Develop backend services and web-hosted tools
- Mentor junior developers and conduct code reviews
- Experiment with new technologies and contribute to feature planning
- Refactor, automate, and document codebase to improve quality and velocity
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including financial, legal, and editorial stakeholders
- Explain complex technical work to non-technical audiences
- Ability to plan software in the context of overall systems and business impact
- Understanding data flow from storage to API endpoints
- Experience with Python and web frameworks (Flask, moving to FastAPI with Typing)
- Strong API delivery and service-oriented architecture
- Proficiency with SQL (data retrieval) and relational databases
