Overview

Join VOY as a Backend Engineer to help build scalable, reliable systems powering a patient-focused health platform. You will develop core functionality for customer-facing and internal products, while enabling rapid product launches through extensible architectures. You’ll own end-to-end delivery—from scoping to production — and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive impact at scale. This hybrid role combines hands-on engineering with a fast-paced startup culture that values ownership and continuous learning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop scalable and reliable backend systems for customer-facing and internal products
  • Build APIs powering web and mobile platforms
  • Create extensible architectures to enable rapid new product launches
  • Integrate with third-party systems and data platforms
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, QA, product managers and domain experts
  • Own end-to-end delivery from scoping and design to deployment and operations

Key requirements
  • Experience building web backends in Node.js/Typescript or willingness to learn on the job
  • Familiarity with scalable cloud architectures, design patterns and best practices
  • Practical experience with CI/CD and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Experience with relational databases and search engines
  • Experience with TDD and testable code (unit/integration/performance)
  • Strong communication skills to explain complex ideas to non-engineers
  • Ability to balance low-level detail with big-picture tradeoffs
  • Hybrid role requiring in-office presence 3 days per week
