Overview
In this Backend Engineer role, you will build and operate production-grade backend services that power a rapidly growing FinTech/SaaS product. You will shape resilient, scalable systems and APIs, collaborating with cross-functional teams to support ambitious growth and cutting-edge tech adoption. The role emphasizes performance, reliability, and evolving stacks, with a strong focus on AI/ML integration and deterministic automated actions. This is a hybrid/remote opportunity with a fast-paced, learning-centric culture and significant impact on the product roadmap.
Responsibilities- Build and operate backend services (Node.js/Express, Python) in production
- Design RESTful and event-driven APIs
- Implement concurrency, locking, idempotency, and distributed consistency mechanisms
- Integrate AI/ML or decisioning services into backend platforms
- Develop safety, audit, and rollback mechanisms for automated execution
- Deploy and operate Node.js services on AWS and manage CI/CD/infrastructure-as-code
- Collaborate with peers in a fast-paced, growth-focused FinTech/SaaS environment
- Contribute to scalable, data-driven financial/transaction systems
- Production experience with Node.js/Express and Python
- Strong familiarity with AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS, EventBridge, RDS/DynamoDB, S3)
- Experience designing RESTful and event-driven APIs
- Relational data modelling experience (financial/transaction systems advantageous)
- Experience with concurrency, locking, idempotency, distributed consistency
- Experience with message queues, background workers, workflow orchestration
- Hands-on experience deploying Node.js services on AWS
- Experience with CI/CD and infrastructure-as-code and containerised workloads
- Strong communication and collaborative skills
- Experience in FinTech/SaaS is advantageous
