In this role you will help build the backend that powers how Wise customers interact with recipients, supporting a scalable platform with secure accounts and local integrations. You will work in an autonomous, cross-functional team to enable reliable, high‑quality recipient management experiences. - Build and maintain backend solutions powering recipient interactions
- Develop scalable platform components ensuring high availability for mission-critical services
- Collaborate with designers, product managers, and analysts in agile sprints
- Integrate search algorithms and local integrations (e.g., Pix) to improve discovery
- Design, deploy, and maintain clean RESTful APIs
- Apply best coding practices, code reviews, and testable code (TDD)
- Focus on customer experience and data-driven decisions to reduce user pain-points
- Support and improve services to prevent downtime and outages
- Experience with large-scale distributed systems
- Strong experience with Java or a similar object-oriented language
- Experience with relational and non-relational databases, query optimization, and schema design
- Product mindset with emphasis on customer experience and data-driven decisions
- Collaborative mindset and ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining RESTful APIs
- Belief in best coding practices, code reviews, and open feedback
