Backend Software Engineer

In this Backend Software Engineer role, you contribute to Lloyds’ Payments Digital Services as part of a fast-paced fintech initiative. You’ll help build a modern, connected platform that enables smarter financial decisions and access to innovative products. You work with cross-functional colleagues to ship features, balance performance with scalability, and reduce technical debt. • Deliver clean, maintainable server-side code with possible full-stack exposure
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to build a world-class product
• Motivate the team to overcome roadblocks and ship features
• Guide design discussions balancing flexibility, expediency, scalability, and performance
• Partner with product and engineering leaders to refine development processes
• Champion new technologies and promote best practices in development
• Proactively tackle technical debt while planning for the future

• In-depth knowledge of Golang
• Experience building microservices deployed in containers on Kubernetes
• Solid grounding in agile development practices
• Experience with both RDBMS and NoSQL datastores
• Ability to diagnose problems across the stack with sound rationale
• Proven experience building large, concurrent, distributed applications
• Experience developing and running large-scale production environments with DevOps or SRE teams
• Interest in working in a fast-paced startup, ideally fintech or payments
