As a Backend Software Engineer, you will shape the core real-time messaging platform and distributed systems that power scalable interactions. You will work on high-throughput infrastructure, contributing to low-latency messaging, Pub/Sub services, and state synchronization, while leveraging AI-powered development tools. This role offers ownership of architecture and code quality in a fast-paced AI-enabled environment. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver production-grade software used by developers globally.

- design and build platform capabilities to scale the messaging infrastructure
- improve performance, reliability, and fault tolerance of distributed systems
- develop and operate low-latency messaging and Pub/Sub services
- work on state synchronization and next-gen AI communication infrastructure
- own architecture decisions and code quality for production-grade software
- solve complex engineering problems at scale
- collaborate in an AI-first development environment
- strong backend development experience with Go, Node.js or another modern server-side language
- experience building or operating distributed systems or messaging platforms
- understanding of scalability, concurrency, performance optimisation and fault-tolerant design
- ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced engineering environment
- familiarity with AI development tools while maintaining engineering quality
- experience with Pub/Sub platforms, Kafka, RabbitMQ, NATS, streaming systems or cloud infrastructure (advantage)
