Backend Software Engineer Growth Platforms

Build reliable backend systems at Lyft using distributed computing, testing, and observability in a hybrid Toronto work model. Shape predictive experiences for Drivers and Riders.

As a Software Engineer on Growth Platforms, you will develop Incentives and Messaging systems for Lyft users. You will design backend features, write production code, and collaborate with product, design, science, analytics, and operations partners. The work includes technical design, prototyping, quality assurance, and production support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement backend features from technical design through production
• Write clean, reliable, well-tested code meeting team standards
• Debug performance, reliability, and data integrity issues
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineering partners
• Participate in on-call rotations and production incident response

Requirements:

• Three to five years of software engineering experience
• Backend proficiency in Go, Python, Java, or similar
• Knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, APIs, and message queues
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases
• Familiarity with observability, cloud infrastructure, testing, Git, and CI/CD
