BI Analyst – Intermediate

Our Client is seeking aBI Analystto drive strategic decisions by designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions that turn large, intricate datasets into compelling visual stories. Your work will support making data-driven choices that benefit citizens across Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and refine Power BI dashboards, reports, and KPIs for diverse stakeholders.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, forecast future patterns, and support predictive analytics.
• Collaborate with teams to gather and understand business requirements for analytical projects.
• Develop and implement complex data models, measures, and calculated columns using DAX.
• Present insights to executives and business users clearly and effectively.
• Perform data quality reviews, data mining, and statistical analysis to ensure accuracy and integrity.
• Support the development of data products and services aligned with the organization’s data strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Proven hands‑on experience with Power BI, including visualization techniques, data modeling, and DAX.
• Strong analytical skills with experience working on large and complex datasets.
• Experience in trend analysis, forecasting, and predictive analytics using Power BI and Azure analytics tools.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of translating technical findings for non‑technical audiences.
• Experience in SQL for data transformations and querying large‑scale environments is a plus.
• Knowledge of government data sets or working in a regulated environment is advantageous.
