Overview

In this role you will own and optimize the NEL ICB Snowflake sandpit, building scalable data pipelines and secure access. You will deliver BI outputs from Power BI to R Shiny and support population segmentation models to target support effectively. Working with cross‑organisational partners, you will enable evidence‑based decision making across North East London's health system. This is a chance to shape data platforms and analytics that underpin commissioning decisions at multiple levels. You will join a mission‑driven Intelligence and Insights team focused on reducing health inequalities and improving population health.

Responsibilities
  • Own and optimise the Snowflake sandpit and data environment
  • Load, transform, and extract data; build scalable models and pipelines using dbt and SQL
  • Apply IG-compliant security roles for controlled data access
  • Create and maintain BI outputs (Power BI, Excel dashboards; R Shiny, R Markdown outputs)
  • Run and develop population segmentation models to target support
  • Support analysts with datasets and data science workflows; shape data schemas
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across ICB, One London, Public Health, trusts, and local authorities
Key requirements
  • Masters level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
  • Extensive analytics engineering/data engineering experience
  • Strong SQL and at least one programming language (Python or R)
  • Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake)
  • Project coordination in complex environments
  • Ability to present complex information to senior stakeholders
  • Knowledge of data modelling (star schema, normalization)
  • Expert understanding of health data and wider determinants of health
  • Knowledge of GDPR/Information Governance in NHS including data sharing and small suppression
